I only have one screw / bolt to hold the points cover on on this engine . Does anyone knoe the thread size and length og bolt ? Like for example 1/4 x 20 1 inch long max ? Can I get it at my local ( Ace ) hardware store ? Also , as I posted in my other post , does battery ignition mean it has points and condenser ? It does have those !

Screws are 3/16''-24''X 3/8'' ''slotted pan head''.

#10-24 X 3/8'' is the same thing by another name.

Your tractor has ''battery ignition'' AKA ''Kettering ignition''.

Along with breaker points and condenser it also has a ''round can'' ignition coil mounted the the engine air shrouding.

Older Kohlers with ''magneto ignition'' also had breaker points and a condenser, but no external coil, the ignition coil on those is inside the flywheel.
 
I use phillips head screws, since I have a long phillips head screwdriver but I don't have a long Allen wrench that size.
