Sears 16hp overhead valve tecumseh

I recently got this tractor the starter barely turns engine over.Brought starter to get checked out they
said it was good.Could the solenoid be bad. The spins over ok'Looking for a little help.Jim

Check the compression release mechanism.

Are you sure the battery is any good? Check all cable connections, check voltage when cranking, try a different battery, use a charger with boost. Don't start buying parts until you have found the problem!

My OH160 did that for years. Finally got time to do something about it this year before it snowed. Basically I replaced the battery cables with new #4 cable and crimped the lugs on myself.
the existing cables were too small and had the wrong lugs on the ends. That fixed mine.
