Hydro-gear transmission update.

Well I pulled that transmission in the
post below. Flushed and changed fluid,
installed new fan and put it back in the
mower. Still noisy and seems to operate
at about half speed. I did get a good
response from hydrogear and they sent me
the parts schematic along with the
manual. Parts are available so I guess
I'll take a look inside and see what's
wrong. I hope whatever is wrong is
obvious because I have zero experience
with these transmissions. In the
meantime the grass is mowed but I may
need to invest in a second mower if I
don't get this thing taken care of
quickly enough.

That's my plan. The person from hydro gear sent me the whole parts schematic with part numbers. They said all the parts are still available and there's a dealer here in town that can get them for me. I just need the time to get it back out of the tractor and taking apart.

I killed a Tough Torque tranny. Having never been inside a hydro system it was a new experience for me too. I found that its pretty straight forward and in my case, the failed parts were obvious, TT sold me the parts and a new gimmie cap and told me to increase my fluid from 10W-30 to 10W-40 which I did. I use it for my Gatorette in my old JD L110 lawn mower with deck removedsd and a big basket (old freezer deep basket), 4 gallon fire ant spray rig on the back, on a daily basis. Been probably 20 years and no problems since.
