Sticking Choke - JD 345

The choke on my 345 is sticking whenever I try to use it. Sometimes I can get it to unstick eventually, other times I have to shut it down and leave it for a while and then it will open up when I crank it after a few hours of sitting. I can't even see the carb - I assume I have to tear apart the front engine shield to get to it. What do I find and what do I do once I get to the carb? Will just spraying the heck out of the mechanism do the trick?

Thanks,
Tim

Most often it is the cable ,spray all of it you can get to, and work it off and on to work the lube through the shield down to the inner wire.

I did already spray the heck out of the cable on both ends with WD40. That made the lever work much easier, but the choke still was sticking. I decided to throw some Seafoam in the gas tank, and ran it for a bit. The next time I used the tractor I was able to start it without using the choke. Think I will put more in the next time I fuel up and hope that fixes it.
