Kohler 7000 series, no start after carb cleaning

My four-year-old Husqvarna lawn tractor was getting hard to start and surging at idle. On advice from YT gurus I cleaned out the carb but dind't remove the two welsch plugs in the idle circuit but blew compressed air back through from inside the throat. Got it back on yesterday but it would not start. The fuel solenoid is connected by the way. Unfortunately I didn't have any ether and my hands were too cold to continue so I left it for a warmer day. Suggestions?

If your solenoid is like the three I have on different tractors, you can feel them click open when you turn the key on. If they don't click check the plug(one of mine has a short wire going into the loom)And check your safety stuff, deck engaged, parking brake off, seat switch. All of the stuff we all have spent hours working on, only to find it runs good after you push the brake pedal down :)
