Hello everyone I have a question about my newly acquired 112 with a k240as engine. When I picked it up I had to jump it to start it as the battery in it was toast, after it was running I disconnected the jumper batt and it stalled, later when I had it in my garage I was able to get it to run on its own with now jumper battery and when I backprobed the rectifier connector I found 9.46vdc for output so I shut it of disconnected it and fired it back up on the jumper battery and found 20vac at the connector so I pulled the engine in hopes to find an extremely dirty stator and mag, it was a little dirty but I didnt think that was really the problem since the magnets were weak. After looking everything up I found it to be the 10amp alternator which nobody seems to have parts available for and the flywheel had an aluminum ring with the magnets embedded into it, again I was stuck with no parts available, so I headed down the road towards remagnetizing the ring with the stator by jumping dc power to the stator with the flywheel sitting on the crank, not thinking far enough ahead the result was pretty much demagnetizing the ring almost completely. So with a compass I was able to mark each magnet as north or south and doing the same with an energized stator I was able to mark each core as well. I added some algnment marks to the block and the flywheel to center a north magnet over a south core and then energizing the stator again I was able to bring some life back to the magnets all but two, because for some reason the stator windings skip two cores. This resulted in two weak magnets and the rest were as strong or stronger than when I started. I went on to build an electromagnet with 20guage mag wire with hopes to holding it to the magnet and remagnetizing the two that were weak. Wether I didnt make it strong enough or didnt use big enough magnet wire it didnt seem to do the trick, so I was wondering if anyone else has run into this and was able to diy an electromagnet that was strong enough to solve this issue. As of right now the snows about to fly and I need to work towards getting it back together and Ill recharge the battery after each use if I have to. Thanks in advance for and help. ~Eddie
