Briggs & Stratton Intek I/C single cylinder no spark

Single cylinder B&S pull start maybe 6hp. Always started for years with no problem. However, now I do not have fire to the plug, tried a different plug, sanded the magnet on the flywheel, sanded the coil, have correct gap between coil and flywheel, still no spark. Any suggestions will be helpful, Thanks

Coils are cheap. Not too much to it. Set the gap with the magnet sitting across the Magnetron...i used to use a grocery
sack.....007. inches or slghtly wider. Somebody will hit this with the correct gap....... With the ground wire removed as Mr. Hamilton
suggested, with the spark plug removed from the engine plugged into the high voltage lead and lying on the fins for a plug case
ground. With a good battery with a reasonable charge if it doesn't jump the gap, get another Magnetron. I bought one a couple of
weeks ago and it was about 16 bucks with free shipping. Worked great.

My problemWas a BS Intek Vtwin and one of the coils was intermittent. Kept fooling with it and finally said heck with it and bought a
new one. Stuck it in and fired right up, no problems.

I had that problem once on a small mower. When I found it I couldn't believe how small a degree shift in the firing point of a small single cylinder gas engine could cause such a problem.

You must have hit something pretty solid while mowing. Crankshaft stopped but the mass of the flywheel took longer. I recall back
in the 1950s, we went from a reel mower that wouldn't cut Dallis Grass stems....ruined a beautiful yart..... to a belt driven Craftsman
rotary. I recall daddy telling me that the belt takes up the shock (within reason) upon hitting something with the blade....direct drives
shear the Woodruff key!
