It's the end of the fourth season with it approaching 200 hours. 7000 Series 24hp. It's always started and run good till this year. It surges a bit at idle when I throttle down. Went to mow yesterday, 50 degrees and it took a lot of cranking to start. I went to gas up and left it on fast idle while I unlocked the tank, a minute or two, and it died when I pushed it to idle. Took more cranking to restart. New engine to me and all I've had to do so far is change oil and filters. Been meaning to adjust the governor to stop the surging but what else should I look for? There's a wire to the carb I'm thinking it's a fuel shutoff.

Roger is right on its the idle circuit that has a restriction its not the gov leave that along, you could try some Sea Foam in the gas sometimes it works other time doesn't help all that much
