Advice on small tractor project

I'm looking for some advice about miniature tractors. My son is really interested in cars, tractors, trains etc. and I'd like to look into the cost of getting hold of and doing up a miniature tractor. We live in a terraced house but have space out the back so it would have to come through a house (our doors are wide it's an old house).

I don't know much about engines but am handy (carpenter) and was hoping to learn along the way with my son so something not too complicated would be great and with readily available spare parts.

Any advice or ideas would be most appreciated. Thank you all.

I'm based in the UK

I've had good fun playing with John Deere 110's for the last few years. During the shutdown I found and restored most of the popular attachments that were available. Don't have a lot of money in it, and everything is fully functional.

If you just want to learn some basic mechanics for little money, I like repairlawnmowersforprofit.com videos fixing lawn mowers.

The John Deere and Cub Cadet and Roper/Sears garden tractors might not be plentiful where you live.
In the agricultural part of the US they do exactly what you're wanting.
See timcasbolt's comment also.

I have rebuilt a few garden tractors. 9 so far. Including John Deere, Massey Ferguson, and Wheel Horse. The easiest and simplest by far, is the Wheel Horse. New and used parts are usually readily available, which in turn, makes them relatively cheap.

You are saying "miniature tractor".
Are you referring to a scaled down version of the real thing?

If so. They are mainly one off custom built machines that can cost thousands of dollars to build. The cost of course depends on the quality and work that goes into building one. You can find them for sale once in awhile.

Then you have the lawn and garden tractors. Both of which are nothing more than riding mowers. With the lawn tractor being cheaper built than a garden tractor. Such as..
Husqvarna YT2548 is cheaply built compared to the GT2548.
