Husqvarna string trimmer kill switch.

What does that kill switch do? It is a momentary switch, so why does it stop the engine?
Just curious.

My STIHL trimmer is the same way. I don't have to push and hold the button. Only punch it quickly and it dies. I think it's the newer electronic coils. My old Echo weed trimmer I had to hold the button till the engine quit. If I let off the button before it quit. it would keep running.

Don't you have to hold the switch until it comes to a stop? That is the way most are set up.

The contacts in the stop switch ground the ignition module so it doesn't continue making sparks at the spark plug.

I'm not sure how those new switches work, but I love them! A lot of newer engines have them! You just push the kill button, engine stops, but you don't have to turn it on again. It's safe and idiot proof at the same time! There may be some electronics involved, My newest Jonsered is that way, and it's 12 years old.
