Bought a clean 2009 JD LA145 w/22hp B&S from origional owner who sold it because it took so long to start and he was tired of paying dealer to replace starters. After replacing broken starter drive, sure nuff it didn't fire til it got a squirt of carb cleaner. I've gone over it can't find the reason why it loses prime after sitting couple days. Replaced fuel pump and didn't help. Drilled a hole in filter cover so I can insert carb cleaner straw rather than remove cover. After sitting,1 burst of cleaner and it fire's every time then die's. Secound burst and it fire's up ,run's and starts fine rest of day. I want to give it to a friend and for safty reasons don't want him messing with spray. Any ideas on why it might act this way? I have an outboard squeeze bulb primer and wonder if pushing gas through pump to carb might solve it or damage pump diaphram? How bout replacing origional pump with an electric pump? Any suggestions?
