J.D.212 steering wheel play

Good evening: My Deere 212 steering wheel has about 1 or 2 inches of play (rotation) before front wheels start to turn. I know there is an adjustment on the steering gear box, but I have no documentation at hand. Can someone describe, or post a pic? I would like to deal with this while my mower deck is off the tractor. Any help appreciated.

Does your steering wheel move up and down ? If it does you probably need new bearing/ cups as well , then adjust the stud on the side ( item D in the adjustment diagrams ).

Good evening; adding to my own last post, I checked steering wheel by pulling on it like I was trying to pull the shaft out, found no play in bearings. GOOD! Tried adjusting the piece that engages the worm on shaft, I could not find a position that got rid of play and still be able to turn steering wheel normally. Finally gave up, basically left it at a sort-of compromise setting. Maybe will try again in cooler weather. End of this thread. Thanks to all who answered!
