Cub 1054 help with drive

I have a Cub 1054 which is about 5 years old. Worked great first 3 years. Last 2 problems with cutting new spindles and belt fixed. This year doesnt want to move if grass is even a little wet. Checked drive belt was shot. Replaced belt. No help at air.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Cant afford to take it to dealer. They get $85 an hour.

Is it hydrostatic, or is it that variable speed drive MTD is so fond of?

I am assuming it is hydrostatic.

Is there any chance you had a rear wheel off for any reason? Lots of times when a flat tire is fixed, the shaft key sticks in the wheel until it falls out and no one notices until it won't move. And then you don't know where to look for it. Did it fall out on the way to or from the tire shop or did they lose it?

Remove the hub caps, have a helper to sit on the machine and attempt to operate it and look and see if the axle shaft is turning inside of a wheel.

While my post below is the more common problem,

It just occurred to me that I was given a Cub Cadet with weak drive once, and whoever changed the transmission belt had the idler pulleys in the wrong places. The idler pulleys were two different sizes and my only clue that was the problem was the small one was way too far from its belt guide.
