Issue with engine bogging down after mowing last week for about an hour. Next evening I mowed for about a half hour. Next evening I mowed for a few minutes then engine quits. I can start it most times and it may or may not need choke and it may or may not run at full or medium throttle and it may or may not allow engine to run once deck is engaged. You may or may not be able to help BUTT, I would appreciate some input. Thanks in advance.

I had an lx178 that gave me a lot of fuel problems. Finally took deck off for access. 4 bolts. takes less than five minutes to lift it off.
grommet from fuel line to tank was cracked and lots of dirt was sucked into tank, and in turn plugged fuel line . Blowing back on line was a temporary
solution. Cleaned tank, (they are easy to remove, just lift out) new fuel line, worked fine till the next time. Final solution was a new fuel pump.
the old one was breaking down in the diaphragm clogging carb with lots of little black seeds like black pepper.
It sounds like you have a fuel starvation problem, and I would methodically follow the system from tank to carb. Fuel line is an inexpensive fix.
Just my experience but it took me a long time and frustration to get it resolved. good luck. Kris

Update: I had been using 87 octane gas. the container was empty and I decided to get 91 octane w/no ethanol. Filled tank late evening, so much dew I decided to quit mowing for the evening. 180 sat for ~ 12 days in shed and I decided I would move it into garage to peek at carb and blow out gas line. Thought I would try starting it, engine puffed a small amount of blue smoke for about two seconds and I could immediately hear the engine had more rps. Been running great ever since. Same result with Snapper 21" self-propelled mower with bag attachment. Stihl FS45 string trimmer starts waaayyy gooder now also. I'm done using anything BUTT no ethanol in small engines.
Enjoy your day folks!
