Bolens string trimmer no run problem Part 2

So I replaced the primmer bulb and had it running for a short period of time. Then I noticed gas leaking and it died. Seems the fuel return line had sort of popped out of the gas tank. Replaced the line and now it will not run. Not sure if U left the line to long or what. Also need to replace the fuel filter. Had to take the filter off to make it run. So can the return line be to long?? Old one just went into the tank by maybe an 1/8 inch.

Thanks

I don't think the length of return fuel line is your problem. I have seen some refuse to run unless the return went below the fuel level. (But they had carburetor problems.)

I usually check compression on the engine. If it won't go over 135 psi in 6 to 8 pulls its not worth fooling with. Remember, all but the oldest Bolens trimmers were made by MTD which is synonomous with cheap.

Have you opened up the pump side of the carburetor? There is a screen in there that sometimes gets plugged. Its the last defence if the filter comes out of the pickup line.
