Bolens string trimmer no run problem

I think I know the answer but figure never hurts to ask. So since my walk behind is waiting on parts I tried to use an electric trimmer but it stopped working so went to the old Bolen's I have. It will some times start but not run. Was looking it over a bit and the primer bulb is broken. So is i like I think that with it being broken it will not run due to to much air and not enough fuel?? I don't know when the last tiem I even tried to fire it up

Trimmer will not run with a crack in the primmer.

This is more then a crack. The top part about as big around as the head of a nail has come off. It tries to run but will not stay running

I ran an Echo for years without a primer. Just for a try give it a shot of starting fluid,or brake clean to see if it pops of. The bulb will be at any mower shop. Of course the last one I bought, the entire kit was included with a new carburetor from Amazon.

It will fire and run a short time on carb cleaner of if you mess with it enough and choke it a good bit but give it any gas it dies
