Here are the results of the discovery>> purchased a replacement filter and a pump [ the type that is run off the crank case vaccumn and pressure caused by the moving of the piston] this pump was made B&S.
RESULTS now the engine runs with out the choke in use; used only for starting. I cut a lawn with out difficulty. When I removed the old pump I did a simple test on the inlet side[ very little suction observed] So the pump appears to be the main problem not delivering the fuel.
