Clutch Belts Grasshopper 620T

I'm not familiar with the 620T,

but on the 900 series grasshoppers that I have changed pto clutch belts on, the biggest issue is getting the stay or stop loose that keeps the electric clutch from rotating. On some models, there is not much room to swing the wrench to turn the bolt and locknut that holds it. (If all else fails, remove the weight bracket and see if that gets you a better wrench angle.) Of course, you have to remove the clutch wire from the clutch. Then I can usually use a 15/16 socket with a long pull handle on the idler pulley bolt to take the tension off the belt so you can work it over the pulleys, one belt hopping off one pulley groove at the time seems to work best.

We have a lift to raise the mower about waist high in the shop where I work. I would imagine it would be much harder if done with the unit on the ground.

Thanks for the note. Did you have to remove the traction kit weights? The clutch anchor bolt was easy. Relieving the tension on the idler was easy. A piece of coat hanger with a hook in one end thru a hole in the left frame and a vise grip to hold it was easy. The belts just don't seem to have enough length to hop over the pulleys. Having a lift would be nice. Have a good one and stay safe..
