up date on Ingersoll 224 switch difficulty

After much assistance from others, checking and rechecking wires and where they went to and from, came to the conclusion that the 4 pin
switch was faulty. Located a 5 pin and a 5 pin switch diagram for use on a starter/ generator system and will pick up new switch for $11.00
Canadian later this week and install and wire according to found diagram for 5 pin switch.
Thank you to all for your assistance.
Wm.

Did you see my reply to your other thread below with wiring diagrams?

Does your engine have an external (to the cooling shrouding) ignition coil for battery ignition, or has the engine possibly been changed to an engine with an under-the-flywheel ignition coil/magneto? (Kohler made both versions.)

That needs to be determined because you don't "ground out" the primary circuit to shut down a battery ignition engine and you NEVER want to feed battery power into a "magneto-type" ignition system as you will let the smoke out of the coil.

Good advice. The original post described an early224 with a points/condenser/coil system. There is no lead to ground on that system.
the power wire just has to be opened, not grounded.

I meant to mention below: That SN I keep mentioning is called a PIN (product identification number) in Case literature and on the tractor tag. With that info and matching diagram along with the correct switch it should all come together.
