anybody use ebay to sell stuff. i have several thousands dollars of lawn mower small parts inventory need rid
of since trying to shut that business down. had a fellow call me about this issue he gives speaches on how to
do what in your mower business he said i would recommend using ebay, name was bob clemens

I used to sell a lot of mower and garden tractor parts on ebay. At one time it was very good. There are now so many selling the same things that a store was the way to go. Ebay store, not a 'normal' store. I was doing auctions and just didn't want to go the store route, so mostly stopped. Just an occasional auction to move more rare or high dollar items.

I'd recommend reading the ebay store info and decide. Boxing and shipping is an issue, so one has to account for the labor and other costs.

I don't know if this helps, but I buy almost all my small engine parts off Ebay. I stick with US sellers only, look for the highest feedback rating and lowest total cost. One problem I have is that I have to pay sales tax on Ebay because there doesn't seem to be a way to register my State tax exemption for the farm. Still, I'd rather pay 8% sales tax than pay 40% more for an item locally that will be the same quality.

My cousin has sold a lot of parts for me on ebay some I thought I'd never be able to sell.

Due to the fact you are advertising virtually world wide eBay is a good venue for selling anything with limited scope of buyers. My issue is the costs of selling that way add up if you are listing low value items. I think that listing fees are a thing of the past but they will get about 10% of the total sale even on the shipping cost! PayPal will take another 5% and if your a new seller they hold your money for up to 10 days. Plus you have to spend lots of time at the computer to create listings, pack the items and make a trip to the post office or UPS, it all adds up and you net lots less than you thought you were going to stick in your pocket. My advise is to consider all costs prior to pricing and forget having auctions, list with buy it now price and accept offers. Good luck

I have an ebay store. Ebay has completely changed the way the seller gets paid. Sellers can no longer use Paypal. Now you get paid through "Ebay managed payments". The buyer can use Paypal. But his payment goes to Ebay. They get their cut first. Then wait 24 hours before depositing your funds into your bank account. Ebay now charges around 13.75%. And is the total of the item, the shipping, and the sales tax.

My dad ran a repair shop for over 50 years. I listed a lot of OEM ag tractor parts. They sold quickly. Last summer I listed several OEM small engine parts. So far I've sold one crank shaft seal for $5.00. I also listed several NOS Echo weed eater parts from the early 80's. None of that has sold.
