John Deere LX255 charging light on

Anyone have a light on the charging system that they can't get to shut off? Background: 2000 JD LX255, Kohler CV15S-41571. Good battery. Checked and cleaned posts. Checked and cleaned terminals on voltage regulator and wire connector. With the engine running, 14.4 volts with a good digital meter. Swapped regulators, 13.46 volts. Put original regulator back on, 14.4 volts. Voltage with tractor off, 12.46 volts. It appears the charging system is working, but the light stays on. I cleaned all the wire connectors I could find and applied dielectric grease on all of them. I just got this tractor a couple weeks ago, so I don't know the history of it. John Deere service ADVISOR makes no mention of the light, that we could find. A check of the stator output voltage at idle is supposed to be 26 volts AC, and that checks out OK. Any ideas? I've about run out.
(I've got to go to the dentist, so I won't answer for a while)
Thanks, Irv

Back when I was running my 318 I ignored the light. I am thinking your problem is either in the black box in the dash (if its like a 318) or the ground wire to it. If you are getting over 12.6v at the battery it is charging.

Since you have confirmed that it is charging don't worry about it.

I concur. The LX255 charging indicator light is control by a section of the Time Delay Module, and had nothing to do with the actual charging system.

If no loose grounds or other poor connections in that area likely the module has failed.

Thanks to all of you for your help. I've got that discharge module on order from my JD dealer and it should be here Monday afternoon. I'll let you know how it works out.
It's a great day, I learned something new!

Thanks to all for your help! I knew someone on here would know. I've got that module ordered from my JD dealer, they were out. Should be here Monday afternoon. I'll let you know how it turns out.

(I think I answered this once and it didn't show up, so if it comes up twice, you'll know why)

Tirekicker, you were right on the money with that module. I just got it and put it on and out went the light! Thank you very much for the information. Merry Christmas to all of you! I'm a happy guy!
