Problem solved. The new carb had a vacuum accelerator which provided a rich mixture. There are two types of carbs for the GT5000. I put the other carb without the vacuum accelerator on and the engine runs great. No more bogging down under load and more hours on a tank of gas. I wasn't aware there were two different styles of carbs to choose from until I looked deeper into the Kohler engine parts manual for 25 h.p. Command engine. Thanks again for everybody's help and suggestions.
