Kohler engine on Troy-Bilt

I have a Kohler engine K161T - 28127J and would like to fix the ignition part(s). The spark failed years ago and I have been using it with an external coil (from a Farmall Cub), and a 6 Volt battery, using the external points and condenser. Works fine that way, but I want to fix it properly if possible. I have been taking the engine apart and am ready to remove the flywheel. So a few questions before I really mess it up. How do I remove the flywheel? Am I going to find that the needed parts are no longer available?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks. That should help. Still trying to get the hex net loose (the one that holds on the flywheel). Sure hope that it is right-hand thread.

Thanks for everyone's help. Making some progress late today. Will try to attach some pictures.
1) remove flywheel nut (right-hand thread) strap wrench not long enough, but got it done. Didn't think to use my impact wrench.
2) tap out the rusty threaded holes in the flywheel (3/8 - 16).
3) use my new puller ($39.99) - nothing to it.
4) tomorrow see if my lawn mower guy has a new coil.

That looks like an old Fairbanks-Morse coil. Don't hold me to that, it just looks like what is in some of the old Clinton and Tecumseh engines. I am thinking that I have seen aftermarket coils on Ebay. You have to get the old coil off the frame and slide or press the new one on.

If you have to remove the frame to change out the coil, scribe the crankcase cover and the magneto frame with match marks so you can get the air gap close when you put the flywheel back on.

Also check the magnet in the flywheel. A screwdriver should snap firmly over to it when held about 1/4" away.
