Wheel horse fuel issue

So my last post I talked about my wheel horse raider 12 giving giving me fits. At first I thought it was
the coil. I noticed now that when I pull my choke out it will run half decent but if I push my choke in
it will just die. Thinking a fuel problem now. Like it's starving it runs good at startup and I can take
it out and run it for about 5-10 mins. I could use all the help I can get as I'm new to working on garden
tractors thanks!

Does loosening the fuel cap help when the run issue starts?

Have you looked in the tank with a light? I've found bugs, grass and plain old trash in them before.

If you can't look in the tank, have you taken the fuel outlet out of the bottom of the tank and checked the screen for trash? Maybe catch the gas in something so you can see if anything falls out of the tank.

Its also possible that the fuel pump is 'playing tricks' meaning it works until it warms up, then one of the check valves quits working/falls out of its bore (this happens on plastic pumps, I don't know about the old metal pumps) etc.

Then there's always the possibility trash moving around in the carburetor.

If your raider is same/similar to mine you have a plastic tank with a straight nipple out bottom which is part of molded tank, there is no filter/filter screen in tank although you may have a load of grass, dirt or water in bottom of tank blocking outlet. If your tractor has a shutoff valve mounted on left side of hood stand remove valve, disassemble & clean out,iv'e had mine plug up several times over the years,if you have an inline filter replace same or add a filter if you don't have one.

If above doesn't help/cure problem consider replacing fuel line between tank/carb,I replaced my line several times over the years as line got weak & fuel pump would suck line closed when line got warm from eng heat,if you still have a problem consider replacing fuel pump & cleaning out/rebuilding carb or replace carb,if everything/most every thing in fuel system is orginal it's all getting tired and needs a good going over/replacement as the last raider series tractor was built in 1972
