Powerking throw out bearing

I have a 1985 Power King 1614. It runs great but makes a grumbling/ squeaking noise running in neutral but quiets down when clutch is depressed. What may be the cause. How hard to remedy?
Thanks!

yup, you need a throw-out bearing. Replace the clutch disc if its markedly worn down to the rivets and the pressure plate if its scarred up or the fingers are bent/broken. A new throw-out bearing will cost you 80.oo-100.oo, a clutch and pressure plate will set you back another 200.oo-300.oo.

The clutch in that tractor is not repairable it has none of the part the previous poster mentioned if the noise is as you post when the clutch is engaged and stops when disenaged it is most likely the transmission input bearing its best to repair this as quick as possible as parts for those transmissions are getting harder to find.
Mission mfg is the place for parts they are not cheap if it is the clutch a new one is $750+
I'm attach a link to Mission there website is about worthless you have to call them for parts you'll need to have the SN tractor model and year

Youre right, I glossed over the year and just saw "1614". The latter year "Plastic" Powerkings are an entirely different animal.........

Yes and the clutch was a poorly conceived and design the transmission has it problems also but the hydro tractor are outstanding machines

Sorry, the tractor was purchased new in 1984. It has a 4 speed gearbox. Tractor sifts fine in all gears. Again the problem is: a grumbling, squeaking noise is heard when running out of gear. When the clutch is fully depressed the noise disappears. Put in gear, let out the clutch you move forward but the noise returns. The noise also gets louder the longer I drive it. Any help is much appreciated, thanks!

I'm sticking with a bad trans input bearing but the good news is if it is the clutch parts are easy to get and reasonably price, I say trans bearing because a clutch throwout bearing is not spinning when the clutch pedal is up and the clutch is engaged it only spins when the pedal is down clutch disenaged but with the clutch engaged the trans input shaft is spinning

Thank you much, sounds like your ‘spot on’ with your suggestion. Since I’m not a great mechanic, I will try to either find a used one or find someone to
rebuild it. 👍
