Gravely L8 Cyl Head on backwards

In all of the pictures and manuals i've seen it the spark plug points to the right (intake side). Mine is opposite. The cylinder head looks symmetrical,and it has been running fine. Just curious if this will be bad in the long run. I've only put about 4 hours on it since i got it, but unknown how long its been like this.

I can't imagine it's on backwards, isn't there a relief for the valves on one side?. If it was backwards the head would hit the valves and not even touch the block.
 
Russ, I know what you're thinking, if the valves were on the same side. On this gravely engine the valves are on opposite sides of the piston. I've heard it called a T-Head engine. Below is a picture of the inside of the head I found on the 'net. It doesn't look like anything will hit. In the factory configuration, the plug gap would be pointing at the intake side, which may help cool off the plug. On mine the plug gap is pointed at the exhaust side. I'll correct it someday, but for now i need it to mow my camp in Vermont. Pretty much the only time i use the gravely.

Thanks 007, you're a better sleuth than I. Had it running this past weekend, mowed the lawn. No problems. I
measured the head temperature by the exhaust at 180F after about 5 minutes. Seemed OK.

Bill, I have one like that, but believe repairing mine the guilty person is me. Maybe that is why it isn't running or won't start? I have (4) Gravely Tractors and all need rebuilding, none will start. Started on the first one two days ago and it is all apart. No metal tag and don't know where to find information on it, just know it is L8 called convertible.
