Wheel horse spitting and sputtering

My wheel horse raider 12 started spitting and sputtering like it was starving for fuel haven't had any problems with it until know carb rebuilt 2 years ago pulled the choke and it would run then die again then when I pushed the choke in it would run for about 10 seconds the spit and sputter again could it be my fuel pump?? Just don't know where to start.

Kohler or Tecumeseh?

Have you tried gravity-feeding gas to the carburetor from a test tank?

Kohler, I did notice last night when I started it up it ran fine so I am wondering if it's the coil? I only ran it for maybe 2 minutes just to put it back in the barn.

First thing I'd do is clean or replace the sparkplug.

Seems premature to condemn the coil (but anything's possible)?

I would take it back out. At night in a dark place. Let it run and see if you see any sparks. Onan had this problem. Turned out to be a cracked coil. Really showed up in the dark.

I agree with wore out on the sparkplug, I don't very often change them, but it's one of the first things I try when an engine won't run right.
