Grabby clutch on the Cub Cadet

Have CC 108 stick shift. Sort of grabs, jerks when the clutch is let out. Worse in gear 1, less in others. What is going on here? Tolerable, but use to not do that.

That’s what I thot. I had it out of there several times mainly to
replace thrust bearing and then change the clutch disk in
process. Should I replace the two discs also? I just don’t
remember it ever being grabby. Usually can tell when throw
out bearing is going...
Thx.
Hi, Mr. Bedell. I have corresponded with you before. Be safe.

Do what ever it takes to bring it back to normal. Chances are, this will be the last time, you will do it.

When you have it out, check the shaft, it may be worn where the pieces slide back and forth and also under the spring.

Also check the steel driven plates. they tend to wear more at the edges than the middle and kinda curve outward at the edges.

It has been a while since I have worked on a manual clutch, but I suspect the "Teaser" spring is meant to keep the Clutch Lever from vibrating or rattling.

f you have access to a lathe you could chuck up those pressure plates and take a light cut to get them straight. I'll bet 20 or 30 thou would true them up without weakening them too much. New ones are available, but a little pricey.

My 73 got to be that way, I replaced the broken teaser spring and it acts normal now. I'd check th teaser spring first.

The teaser spring puts light pressure from the steel plates onto the fiber friction disk, smooths the engagement of the clutch, the little spring gets crushed every time you engage the clutch. It only lasts so long. I got 32 years of service from the big pressure spring on my CC#72, and replaced the teaser spring 4-5 times. When your trying to ease your tractor into tight places with a broken teaser it's really hard to to keep from crashing into things.

(quoted from post at 18:30:25 08/26/20) What if I held them on a stationary belt sander?🤔
don't know. Maintaining perpendicularity between the faces and the shaft would seem to me to be pretty important.

No as it does nothing for the clutch fork/throw out bearing clearance issue nor does it hold tension on it. I believe it puts a little tension on the clutch disc
so it starts grabbing earlier and will transmit power through the clutch before it locks up enough to transmit all of the power. Makes the engagement a little more
gradual. But hey I may be wrong as I'm just a reformed Dairy Farmer.
