K241 into John Deere 318

So I did some research on fitment of the k241 onto the JD318.
I cant find any details on any swaps. Do the mounting holes on the engine line up directly with the holes in the frame for the engine?
Fuel lines are pretty straight forward, air is simple, drive shaft probably wouldn't be any challenge to adapt, is there anything else that has to be adapted that would be a potential problem?

I found a k241 missing a carb and fuel tank for $250. A carb on ebay is $15.

Kind of a lot of work for putting a under powered engine in the 318.
You would probably have to raise the engine and fit the PTO clutch
onto the Kohler.

A determined man with a hammer and a welder and an acetylene torch and some steel scrap
can make it work, but.....

The big question would be what kind of equipment the K241 came out of.
The John Deere K241 spec was different from the cub cadet spec and the Case spec.
You'd like that K241 a lot better on a 210, even if it's a John Deere spec engine.
The 200 series was built around the Kohler K-series engines.
The 318 engine was originally an Onan, mounted differently than previous John Deere LGT's.
If you want to keep the 318, consider a repower kit from one of the vendors that specialize
repower applications.

f it's of any use to you, there is an Onan engine from a 318 on facebook marketplace in Aberdeen, MD. He wants $100. Says it was "working but getting tired".

If you plan to mow with this, you will need a pto clutch that fits. And, consider what size deck you will be using as 10hp won't be satisfactory with the 46 or 48" decks, IMO.

Driveshaft adapters are available, used, from several machines that used the K series with the flywheel facing the rear. I think even the adapters from two cylinder K series will work.

You are aware that the k241 is 10 hp. and the Onan is /was 18 hp, aren't you?

I don't know how it would react in a 318, but a k241 in a Cub Cadet with with Hydro is kinda weak. It lugs the engine. It really wants a
few more ponies under the hood.

If it was me, I would re-power with a twin cylinder Kohler Command, Briggs and Stratton Vanguard, or Honda twin with at least 18 hp. 20 or
more prefered. The Onan has a much heavier flywheel than anything made now, so it had more lugging power. The newer engines want to be
near their rated rpm to really develop good power.

Any of the suggestions would require fabricating engine mounts, probably lengthening the driveshaft (If you are going to use the pto to
power the deck) and electrical modifications.
