KOHLER FUEL PUMP

Here us one example of an electric pump, 3-6 psi, you may want less pressure than that.

Plastic fuel pumps don,t last , I take the fuel pump out , make a plate with fitting for 1/4 inch hose and use the briggs&stratton vacchm fuel, pump , works
good , I did this a dozen engines , plus if the fuel pump goes bad it’s easy to change mount it close to the carburator

I have thought about putting an electric pump like that on our Husqvarna with a Kawasaki. The fuel tank is lower than the engine, so after sitting for any extended time it has to crank awhile. I suppose they don't use them from the factory because of the safety concern, if it leaks it would keep on spraying until you shut the key off. Can you just hook a pump like that up to the ignition circuit? We have never had any problems with our lawn mowers so I'm not sure how the ignition works, because it works so well! Thanks!

I had the kohler pump go out on my 222, tried the plastijunk replacement (proof of concept) with dismal results. I put a cheapo ebay electric pump on. I tried a fuel pressure regulator (didn't work) so I ended up putting a tee after the pump and before the pump. With a valve I can regulate the pressure bleed off the pump suction to relieve pressure on the needle and seat (still sometimes flood the carb). I also put the pump on it's own constant hot switch, so I can prime or run tractor without pump. I do have to adjust the valve here and there, but not much of a problem. I have a dirtbike style clear inline filter after the pump so I can monitor the tank crud (redlined it).

guess i do not get your problem we have done very few fuel pump replacements that you keep talking about in the 12 years i had shop open for service. personal i think you have other issues going on that making trouble, like said had very little issues ,electric units on other had they were not near as dependable. good luck
