bought used. downloaded oper / parts manual. nothing on briggs 22 hp els engine. went to briggs website. zippo. where do i find basic maint info such as spark plug, gap, oil & air filter ? thanks cus i hate looking all over. has to be a better way
 
Both Wix and Fram have websites where you can look up the filters, I believe there is a short and long filter, if you have room for the long one it's better. The spark plugs you could look up on Champion or NGK website. Valve clearance, you can probably find a youTube video to show you exactly how to do it. If you can ask questions on here you can probably find out anything you need to know online!
 
The model, type, and code numbers are stamped on the top of the valve cover of those engines. Those are the numbers to use to look up anything for that engine. if you don't see the numbers try wire brushing the top of the metal valve cover. Also, sometimes they get reinstalled upside down. So if it says AHO instead of OHV on the cover, look on the bottom.

They run 30wt. detergent oil and use the Briggs 492932S oil filter. RC12YC sparkplug. (Gapped at .025). I would have to look up the air filter using the model and type numbers, because it could be any of at least 3 different ones depending on year made and how it was equipped.
