dual rear wheels on small tractors

While searching through craigslist and marketplace, every once in a while I run into a John Deere or Cub Cadet that somebody has put duals on. How are they doing that? Just putting in longer bolts?

There are a variety of adaptors that put duals on a garden tractor.
The simplest involves a ring to separate the rims an inch or two and bolts through the wheel weight holes.
The most elaborate are hub extenders that bolt up to the tractor's hubs.

hanks. I guess I could have googled it, but there's usually experienced users here that have an understanding of the complications.

My thoughts are if you need extra traction and opt for duals, you need to go ahead and add wheel weights to get the benefit from them. Course if you
added weights to your existing singles, and put R1s on the rear if you have R4s, you may not be thinking about duals.

hank you. To be honest, I've never even considered duals, although I'm sure there's reasons to have them. There's a couple small tractors for sale right now with duals, and they are pretty dumb looking.

Good morning! I have a Deere model 212, so only a little experience with small tractor, mainly cutting grass. The person may be wanting to use his small tractor on very soft or wet ground. Not sure duals would help but maybe... Personally, I would be thinking that if I increase the traction, I may tear up the transmission. Just me thinking!

Although they might make a mower more stable on a hillside, I think most that you see are just on there for looks. There may also be some
where the duals really help, on applications like if the tractor has a front end loader.

I found out that some tow motor with solid rubber wheels, the steel center hub fits the outer bead of
a 12 inch mowers wheel perfectly. Just add 4, 1/2 pieces of all thread. (I just built a small brush
pile fire and the rubber was gone.

I had an extra pair of tires put on a big garden tiller as it was always pulling hard and slipping, causing the tiller to wallow..worked, too, but very hard to drag around for the trip back!

I have often gotten my JD lawn tractor stuck in very soft ground...that I did not realize was so soft. But I would have had to had duals on the front wheels too and then been really way out in the middle of the soft mud!

If just mowing, not pulling something, I think those duals would bump into trees, etc and be wider than the grass cut. Leo

Check the website of XTREME MOTORWORKS LLC. They make the spacers and hardware to put duals on Cub Cadets
and some other brands of garden tractors.
