This engine may be old enough to have points. If so, you need to check them with an ohm meter. Gap needs to be set to about .016". If no points, the ignition coil/module assembly could be bad.
If there is a wire that goes back under the flywheel, that would indicate that it has points.
Also, there is a possibility that the woodruff key between the crank and flywheel could be sheared. I know that this will result in a no spark condition on a Briggs engine, may also be a problem on a Tecumseh engine.
One thing is sure - no spark = no start.
