Did you gap the ignition coil properly? Magnet clean on the flywheel? This can affect starting. Gap coil on the magnet with a business card
between the coil and magnet.

I opened it up today to try this. It was flush with the flywheel, so I adjusted it and now it's gapped to the thickness of a business card. I tried to start and still won't start, but I haven't tried testing for spark yet (I'm not too hopeful). The magnet looked pretty decent, even thought the flywheel had some rust (it wasn't terrible).
