Hello, rebuilding the deck on my WheelHorse. The bearings are 6203 2RS and I find them for as little as a BUCK each!!!! Those can't be good!!!! What bearings do you guys use that LAST!!!! Also not finding much choices for the 8213 seal...Thanks. Ed

I've had decent luck with generic bearings on deck spindles.

As to the seal, is 8213 a Wheelhorse number, or an SKF number?

If an SKF number, it most any auto parts store should be able to order it in SKF, or cross it to their store brand. Or, check with a nearby "bearings and drives" sort of industrial parts house.

Also looking for idler pulley. no tag on the deck its on a 74 raider 10. 36 inch deck and pulley is flat. 3 1/2 " . thanks, Ed

You are correct that the super cheap ball
bearings are horrid quality. At one time
the 6203/2rs was the most popular bearing
in the world. Almost all new bearings are
made in China. When I need bearings I go
to eBay, punch in the bearing number and
something like "old stock" or "NOS" . for
6203 you will get 100s of results.

If they are a sealed bearing you can
carefully pop the seal off and put some
grease in it then put the seal back on
before you install them. The "grease" that
comes in them looks like a small dab of
vaseline, no wonder they don't last. I do
this all the time when I change bearings
for people, they are amazed how much longer
they will last.
