Hi. Long time lurker here on the tractor forum, first time posting. I?m helping my brother in law with his Case 222 garden tractor. The hydraulic pump that bolts on the motor is leaking and seems beyond repair. The input shaft is worn and damaged and the internal gears are worn as well. He priced a new pump and I believe it was around $800. He bought this tractor new in the mid 1970?s and is pretty attached to it, but can?t justify that much for a new pump. Any suggestions on how we can proceed? Thank you.

Tractor Model 222-76

Borg Warner hydraulic pump S1255EK56R 06001

Have your brother in law price out a tractor of
that quality now.
Then check out the lower price point tractors at
big box stores.
It will be worth rebuilding his 222!

Replacement pumps are available for less! Take a look at salempwr.com, a full line Case/Ingersol parts dealer. That should be a .66 cuin pump with either a 1/2 or 5/8 shaft SAE AA mount. An original equipment pump isn't mandatory, just match those characteristics and fluid connections. If you would like a used pump, send me a PM, I may have one.

I appreciate the information, Ken. We?ll poke around and see if we can find a pump with similar specifications. And we?ll keep in mind your possibility of a used pump.
