Cheap/China/Kohler fuel pump

I got this from Ebay yesterday with no instructions, looks to me like a good chance of cutting the o rings on the fuel line fittings when sliding them in, even with grease. Heating the retainers in the pump body might help??

And for what possible reason is the giant snap ring included??
Anybody have any experience with these. It's supposed to fit a K241/301/321 and 341 but I never seen one with the pump arm shaped like that, still could work I guess.

The snap ring is included as a tool.

Insert the ends of the snap ring into the "slots" at the ends of the fitting retainers and squeeze to release the retainers so a fitting can be easily installed without damaging it's O-ring, or to release the fittings, if they need to be withdrawn and turned, or for whatever reason.

NO heat the to retainers needed, just enough strength to squeeze the snapring together to do the job.

Simple, eh?

Yes, bu takes quite a "squeeze"!

Thanks Bob, you must be some kind of wizard or something to figure that out. I was trying to see If I could collapse those retainers with little screw drivers but it was tuff going and they were stiff, just came out of the mailbox. The fit/finish on the snap ring is pretty nice compared to the fuel pump, would of never figured that out.

Thanks for the kind words, but no "wizardry" involved, just got lucky in that the several of these pumps I've used came with instructions!

Kohler has instructions on how to install and use the snap ring etc I guess the folks selling the pumps think everyone has those instructions

I've gotten oem Kohler ones that look just like that, and they've seemed fine. The last time I bought Kohler fuel pumps I bought 3 of the eBay ones, 2 I used and were totally junk (leaking fuel into the crankcase the 3rd hasn't had fuel run thru it yet/fresh overhaul, using it as just a block off for now to keep dirt out of the engine til I get it mounted, found some old style metal Kohler fuel pumps and a place to get rebuild kits for those, I will be using one of those when this engine gets used.
There are so many people selling the Chinese fuel pumps, I dunno if they all came from the same initial source but how do you tell what you are getting and whose may be ok and whose to avoid? You can't. So I'm done with Chinese Kohler fuel pumps.

Not distracting from the problem at hand, but I find lots of instructions with most things these days, and I guess we can thank the lawyers for that, as
compared to yesteryear where you had to be a genius to figure most anything you bought.....but this does appear to be an exception.
