How do you do this to an STX38? Or anything for that matter.

I think your answer might be pretty close. Look at it this way. Now he can order a new rear. Go to their website,NOT JD.

I agree that it might have been dropped. I bent the front axle on an stx30 dropping it off the back of my pickup in a ramp-gone-wrong scenario.
On the upside, there are about a million of those for sale on marketplace and craigslist.

I had couple show up that way one was own buy guy well over 300lbs how he rode it beyond me but it finally gave up under him,he rolled off he said when happened. other one fell off ramps. I have also seen garden tractor series units with both frame rails broken in half, trust me some customers can really tear up items. had one unit come back less week old unit knocked front end clear out of unit this was over 10000.00 dollar rig. he wanted it warrantied,i said no last I heard he had been to several other dealers with unit for warranty. sure glad I did not have him as regular or sold the unit to him

I've seen a lot of stx 38's with a left rear broken axle. never seen one with a broken housing. Might have fell of the ramps when loading or unloading it.
