Gentlemen, I just got this cute little guy yesterday. It's a model 100F, #1621, with a 6hp Lauson engine' and a pan seat. I Googled around and didn't find much of anything on it.
I found model 100G's with a square seat and up with Kohlers but not lauson/Tecumseh.

TRK Oh, boy I sure hope there's seals in the axles. Aren't these Peerless transmissions? How would you keep the oil in them if they didn't have? I've worked on John Deere 60 transaxles and I think they had seals in them for the axles. Didn't have time to do any looking today.

Yes, I have quite a few old Wheel Horses, one of them just like yours, a Lawn Ranger. Well, not quite like yours. That's a beauty! Mine's still in it's work clothes. I also have a 604 with a 6hp Tecumseh, so I'm familiar with them. The thing I found was wrong with most of them was the tiny little holes in the carburetor jets were plugged up. Clean that out and you were good to go. As for a bad flywheel, that' a new on me too. Tecumsehs were known for sheared flywheel keys that were just enough off to make it not run.
Jeffcat, and John, Tractordata is the first place I look to find out anything about mowers. What a great resource! I believe the Chief 6 is the right one, but I'm wondering if the years are right. I looked under Chief 100 because my tag says 100F so I looked there. Wrong one.
And you are right about being excited about what else they might find. Have you ever seen what that slide plate might be for. I'm hoping it's for a tiller and maybe it's hiding somewhere. I'm not familiar with these at all so my research is going be fun!

Clint, I'm thinking you are correct in saying its a 1961. Does anyone have a serial number breakdown on these? It's surely has to be one of the first ones made. Wouldn't they have made these with the pan seat first before the padded seat square one like all the rest?

Thanks to all for the info. I'll keep you posted if I come up with anything else. I had to leave it outside because there's another project in my garage, and it's been -7 outside with a nasty wind off and on that goes right through you.

That's why I asked the question. New flywheel probably wasn't the problem in itself; Alnico V magnets last a lifetime. I don't remember the brand of engine when I experienced the partial sheared key mystery.

What amazed me was how sensitive those engines are to ignition timing. I guess that's the reason ignition points were still being used when small engines went from a separate coil to a flywheel magnetic pickup. Must have been lower voltage outputs as compared to today's machines. Higher voltage would mean a steeper leading edge with more control on the positioning thus eliminating the need for ignition points. Never pursued the reasoning and stages of the transformation.

I had 66 Wheel Horse with a 6 hsp. Tecumseh that set in the shed for about 30 years because I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't run right. Finally bought another engine off a snow blower that ran good and swapped parts one by one until the wheel horse ran good. The flywheel fixed it, never seen that before. Then a couple of years ago I rebuilt the little Wheel Horse.

Upon removing your existing flywheel, did you happen to notice the condition of the Woodruff key? If so, was it perfectly intact, or was it partially sheared?

That is one dazzling restoration. Superb job sir.

The key was fine. What this was doing is after about twenty minutes it would start loosing power, I could open the main jet a little and it would go a few more minutes and repeat and then die. Always thought it was the carb. but it was the same with the donor carb as well as the donor magneto. Flywheel made it brand new. Usually starts on first pull of the rope or for sure second.

I fixed it up to take to the local threshing show, got two bad discs in my lower back and can't predict when my legs are going to get numb, this works good to get around on.

I think that looks a lot like the Jacobsen Chief 6 on TractorData.com. The engine listed is a Lauson HT60.

Jeff, I don't know what all those brackets are for. The slider looks like it might for some rear attachment, but I've never seen one of these, so it only a guess. You got any ideas?

I got this from a guy I used to work with. He's cleaning out his grandfathers estate and this was brought from South Carolina to Iowa many, many years ago, and set under a workbench and was never used. He knew I liked old stuff so he brought it to me!! I was grinning from ear to ear.
I like those little Tecumsehs', If you get them set right, they run like a top. The gas tank is as shiny as a new dollar inside, which doesn't hurt!

He thinks maybe they'll find the deck somewhere in the pile, and I hope they do.

I was going to try to get it going today, but we got an inch or so of snow yesterday afternoon and it was -7 this morning with an 18 mph wind. Another project in the garage, so this will have to wait.

His gpa bought it new, so I guess I'll be the second owner. That's pretty cool.. I'm going to clean it up and fix the axle seals and keep it original if I can. I think it was made in 1962 but I'm not sure.
Like you said, a nice little show rider for sure.

If your transmission is like the one in my Jacobsen built Minneapolis Moline, And it sure looks the same, there probably are no seals on the axle shafts. With the pan seat, yours is probably older or it was more of a base line model. They are still pretty nice tractors though.

Wow you even got a few extras. With those older engines change the oil as soon as it gets some color. Also clean that air breather. They need all of the help they can get. Guess early 60s maybe just a bit older? Nice find to take to those little engine shows. You will be surprised how many people will say an uncle had one. They might even ask you if you want another!
