And......to explain even further John's explanation, this quote from the Operator's Manual:

HYDROSTATIC TRANSMISSION CONTROL KNOB

To move the tractor without the engine operating, the hydro gear control knob, located to the rear of the control lever as shown in Figure 10, must be in the "No Drive" position. The "No Drive" position is when the knob is turned counterclockwise until it stops.

After moving the tractor, turn the knob to the "Drive" position, clockwise until it stops.
CAUTION
The hydro gear control knob must be
turned fully to the "Drive" position before
operating the tractor and kept in EXCEPT
when moving the tractor without the engine
operating.

I guess keeping in mind there is both a "Knob" and a "Lever"

will make understanding this a little easier.

Great to hear there is another Jake built online. I have a Jake, a Jake built Ford, a Jake MinnieMo and a Jake built white. My Ford I bought new in 1971.

Tell me about the paint on the hood? Mine although faded has a ver7 ornate combination. Hard to describe. Like flames but rounded . Should i try to save this if it's factory?? It's rusted somewhat but can see the definite pattern. Thought if it's factory might have it repainted?? Also what is the general color scheme of the tractor?? Thanks Bill Wilson.

I was trying to post a picture but have not been able to get it to connect.
Some Fords have a solid blue hood or solid white hood, depending on the year.
My Jake is a solid orange
My White is a solid brown hood
The Minnie-Mo is gold on top and white on the sides.

Did you buy your MM from lyons Ind recently? Does your free wheeling lever also turn counterclockwise for free wheeling????

I bought my MM in Illinois several years ago. The battery cover decal shows two arrows: counterclockwise is "NO DRIVE", clockwise is "DRIVE". Mid-range of the lever travel between Forward and Reverse is "NEUTRAL". HTH, John

Counter clockwise for "No Drive" and Clockwise for "Drive".

When I first got my 120 Hydro many years ago, that knob was stuck.

As I recall, I applied a abundant amount of Liquid-Wrench and was then able to turn it using Vise-Grips on the stem below the knob.

Funny.....I originally typed "a (the opposite of conservative) amount" and when I previewed it it was changed to "a abundant amount".

Thank you so much. I just did not want to break it as you know there are no parts.
