Maxim 1130 riding lawn mower

So I was given this thing not long ago. Has an 11HP B/S engine on it. This is a brand I have never heard of. Looks a lot like the Simpson rider that had the disk drive set up but this had a 5 speed gear drive transmission.

Any body ever heard of them and if so what can you tell me about them.

I'm not familiar with Maxim or Simpson mowers, but it looks like the company is still in business. Their website has manuals for a lot of their equipment. I didn't see the model number you listed but you might want to take a look at the manuals that they show. Something might be similar,

Just for the heck of it I put a car battery on it and I got to fire up and run even on old gas. Even drove it around some but the blade will need to be sharpen up before this spring so it will cut batter

The Maxim mowers were made in Sebastopol, Ms. I think they are still in business. Maxim Manufacturing Co. has been in business for some 25 to 30. They make all kinds of garden tools. The mower was made to compete with Snapper and did a good job of it here in Ms where snapper was so popular. FYI

It does remind me of the old Snapper I have in the iron pile but the drive line is far better since it is a true transmission instead of that funky disk drive Snapper had
