Kohler K301

I have a Kohler K301 engine in a Ford LGT125. Comparing the specs of the K301 and the K321, the only difference seems to be the cylinder bore. Is it the same block so that the K301 could be bored out to a K321 bore?

Been done lots of times, sometimes you can get a shifted casting and a bad result,or you CAN have it bored and sleeved to stock size.

The K-series engines usually have the engine size cast into the PTO end of the block
right above the PTO. The K301 and K321 were not generally built from the same casting
but it would be worth a look. Like OldSarge said, you may be able to bore a K301 out
to the next size or you may destroy a good rebuildable block trying.

Don't know about the Ford/Ingersol tractors and Kohler engines but the Cub Cadet K301 engines have a small flywheel and blower housing, same size as 10 hp K241. They drop easily into a "narrow frame" Cub Cadet. The K321 has a bigger diameter flywheel and blower housing, the bottom of the oil pan is the same as a K301 but the blower is about two inches bigger in diameter, requires a Wide Frame Cub Cadet. OR build a K321 and put a flywheel and blower housing off a K301 or K241 on it. Makes an engine that revs to full throttle in the blink of an eye! If you put the BIG flywheel and blower housing on the K301 it will still make 12 hp but be really really slow to accelerate.
