john deere 345 lawn tractor

My engine on my 345 overheated and is not repairable is there a retrofit engine that can be purchased and if so what brand and how hard is it to get
everything back in. Any comments appreciated.

Here is an option. Not a cheap option, but an option.

If it were me, I'd look closely at the Harbor Freight clone. Looks and runs like a Honda at much less cost. Most of the repower kits are Honda based, so the clone should work easily.

Where are you and what engine do you need? I know Deere replaced Kohler twins with Onan's in the 317 series, not sure what the 345 had in it.

I have a spare onan if you're near Northeast Ohio

If it is a water cooled Kawasaki that you are replacing, I would recommend you stick with another water cooled kawasaki. I don't know if the Deere hood would allow sufficient cooling for an air cooled engine.

Why not replace or rebuild the engine? I love my 345 but its 25 years old and I am wondering what happens when the engine finally dies? What were your options?

Tim
