Replaced ignition switch on 1863 cub cadet because it ran after initial start up ran maybe five second then cut off, did this before so I replaced switch , cut my lawn , all was fine, then it happened again , thought it was cheap switch , so I replaced it with Cub part # 925-3163, OEM PART, lasted 30 seconds, is there something burning this switch up ? Any help will be appreciated, thanks

If it happened to me, I would check the resistance in the clutch. It should be at least 2 ohms. 2.5 or 3 or above is better. I would also make sure the charging system is working. It should charge at between 13 and 14 volts. It sounds like your mower is running too many amps through the ignition switch. Also be sure to check the contacts in the plug that goes on it. If one of them is bad, replace it.

Not to say this is your problem but it did happen to me. Bought a used lawn tractor and the start solinoid was bad. Some idiot wired the starter THROUGH the key switch. It actully worked for seval startups till it finnaly fryed.
