Husqvarna LTH1438 problem

Hello, I have a LTH1438 Husqvarna hydro static drive lawn tractor , I'm having problems with it "Lurching" forward or slowing down sometimes to a dead stop when I'm mowing, This usually happens over un-level ground. Also reverse is very slow or won't back up at all. I Read a little on line, some guys claim the drive belt to the hydro may need replacing, I bought and installed a new belt did nothing, Also checked for loose or warn out linkage, checked oil level,
Gave a general complete inspection of the complete machine- Nothing jumps out at me ??

I am not familiar with that particular model of Husqvarna, but 2 things to check before you decide its the transmission:

1. On some husqvarna models that had the steering sector gear underneath the frame, grass piles up on its support plate and then the clutch won't fully tighten the belt. Look for debris piled up on top of that plate the sector gear attaches to and clear it off, especially on the left hand side where the clutch pedal stop hits it.

2. On some Husqvarna models, it is not uncommon for the front transmission mount to lose the bolts that hold it to the transmission. They go in from the top and sometimes they break off and/or strip out of the transmission case. This allows the transmission to twist forward (especially in reverse) and slack the drive belt. This causes the tractor to stall. If you find this, look at the rear mounts over the axle to see how badly damaged they are.
 
Have a handy 1330 cub cadet I bought used and the shifter handle for the hydrostatic just wouldn't work correctly. Pull the fender pan off and started looking around. The front mount bracket on the hydro unit was broken in half. They crawled under the machine and screwed around with all of the shifter adjustments. Took the bracket to the local muffler joint for a little weld job and then adjusted the linkage corectly. Works beautifully now.
