Recently purchased a Power King 1614. The engine is a Kohler K321 the problem I am having is when I throttle down below half way it will shut down. I tried adjusting the carburetor but that didn?t help. I have pulled the carburetor off and took it apart but don?t see anything wrong. What area should I be looking The carburetor has two gaskets under the bowl is that supposed to be that way If it isn?t the carburetor what else could cause it to shut down. Thanks

Likely, there's a plugged passage in the idle circuit somewhere.

As you've noticed, some Kohler carbs use a square-cut rubber ring AND a rubber fabric gasket to seal the float bowl to the carb.

If you can't figure out what's clogged, ebay or Amazon have generic replacement carbs for some #20.

Reports are that they work well.

Some have had issues with the style of choke lever and have to to re-use the old choke shaft, or "mod" the new one, tho.

Check the throttle shaft if there is any side slope then the throttle shaft and carb body bore are worn and it sucking air causing a leak mix I find it easier to replace the carb with a new on from e bay about $20.00 I've installed 10+ and they all work good as noted the choke arm may have to be changed

As the others have said. The knock off carbs work great. Thing is almost every carb in the world is made in some factory in china or has been reverse engineered over there. The real thing can cost $200 + and the Ebay special will be $20.oo. Many of the copies work better than the originals. I have replaced five Briggs & Stratton carbs, two 8hp Hondas, a Cub Cadet, and a couple of Kohlers too. Happy with all of them. Many of these carbs are true OEM carbs made in china for the big name companies with the name shaved off and sold out of the back door.

Up date on the Power King 1614 I pulled the carburetor cleaned and put rebuild kit. I also put new points plug and condenser Drained and replaced the gas. I have it back running and it will now idles as it should New problem it backfires and steady popping I can see traces of fire coming from the exhaust. Is this going to be carburetor adjustment or points adjustment. Thanks

Carb most likely running lean at high throttle settings the main jet is the vertical screw next to the gov/throttle shaft turn it out (CC) about 1/8 turn at a time did you check the throttle shaft for wear?

The throttle shaft is good the main jet is set at 3 1/2. I tried opening it up and it didn?t help I went all the way until it started stalling. Do I need to pull
the carburetor back off and double check the main. I set the points at .020. Would that be about right

Hi again I just reread this post check the condenser it could be failing for a quick test you can install any condenser you may have to see it it makes a difference also check that the condenser has a good ground and it needs to be connect to the - post of the coil the same one that goes to the points

Got a chance to work on the Kohler this afternoon. Replaced the condenser and that didn?t help. Checked the points and they were a little off so
readjust them and that helped some. It runs great up to about half throttle above that it starts cutting out. Next chance I have I am going to go back into
the carburetor one more time and see if that will help. What do you think about these carburetors on eBay think they will work. Thanks

I've installed 8+ of the e bay carbs all made the engines run great the only thing about them some come with the choke arm 180 degrees out the first ones I installed I remove the choke shaft from the old carb the last ones I ground the riveted area off turned the arm and reriveted it back been working for year

I am going to check this carburetor one more time. Probably order a new one. Will let you know how it turns out
