John Deere 332 Hydraulic/Hydrostat fluid level indicator.

My new to me JD 332 has a hydrostatic/transmission fluid level checker on the back of the unit that I am not familiar with. My indicator shows fluid in it but no way to know if the correct volume is in it. I am assuming with fluid visualized in the tube that it is a level that is OK. If anybody has any experience with this please shed some light on the subject for me. Thank you. I do not know if the same system is set up on a 318 as well.

If it has not been modified, the level should be in the midpoint of the tube, Key #8, which is held in bracket #7.

(Sometimes, parts leak or get broken in that area, and not replaced properly.)

Works like a water level. I had to replace that tubing on one once and got it from JD. It was some sort of weird tubing with ridges on the inside. Not sure if this aids in seeing the level or strengthens the tube ? or both ? I still have some on my shop shelf. I think I bought a foot of it.

When the tractor is not running the level is above the glass area, when running it is in the middle of the tube. Does this indicate it is alright?.

My engine temperature light comes on and flickers after starting. I changed the inner and outer air filter which were both filthy and I changed the antifreeze this evening, but the temp light keeps coming on. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

As I recall, oil level should be in middle of sightglass with engine "off", I'm 24 miles away from my O.M. at the moment.

Yours may be a little overfull, but I don't think that's anything to worry about.

As to the temp light, I would first look closely for a chafed wire.
