That 4 hrsp white eng. needs a carb. and fuel tank. the orange carb./fuel tank is off a 5 horse. I thought they would be close enough to work but when I put it together I noticed the orange carb. body is bigger, mounting flange and body. I had it running on the floor/hard to hang on too and hard to tell how good it's going to run. Then got to wondering if the carb. throat was bigger on the 5 horse, so pulled it off and it's the same size as the 4 but the 5 has a spiral inside of it. Anybody know if combination will work. The engine was on my kids go cart and they left it set under the roof edge of my shop, I didn't notice for a couple weeks and then shoved it in the corner for 15 years or so, now I got time to work on it.

I would think if the 5 hp carb. is in good condition it should run the 4 hp. o.k. Clamp it down and try again. I have only seen one recently that I could not make run well, and it was left outside to sit with water in the tank. It wanted to run rich for some reason. I am thinking the 4 hp was a 10 cubic inch and the 5 hp was about 13 cubic inches. (10XXXX 4 hp. model vs 13XXXX 5 hp. model.)
