Got a Dynamark 4518 lawn mower, guessing around 1987. All the place where the engine number would be are gone and need to know what size engine and parts list for it. I do know its a Briggs and Stratton V twin. Model # on tractor is 4518-0100,Serial #72283,Code#8098D.

Serial number and model for the engine should be on top of the right valve
cover. Wash off the crud and also the cover is rightside up. Now I better cover
my tracks. That is where my older twin engines have it. Looking on Briggs
website they have switched things around on the newer engines. Go to Briggs and
Stratton web site and it shows how to find stuff and then will tell you type
and when built.

Are you sure its a 'v' twin? I would think in '87 Briggs was still building the old opposed twin. It could be a replacement though or the
mower is not quite as old as you think it is.

A Picture of the engine would help. Are there any decals on the mower that would indicate horsepower?

If it is a V-twin, Jeffcat is right, most had the numbers on the top of the valve cover. If one of the valve covers says AHO instead of OHV,
the numbers are underneath.
