They call for 10-30 motor oil in the trany. I went to drain it for the first time since I bought it (1997?) and - whoa - it holds 6 1/2 quarts! Anyway, I have 15-40 around, plus a lot of Royal Purple synthetic Synergy ISO 320 gear oil. I gather that they've made a lot of strides in improving lubricating oils in the last 20 years. What do you guys think about putting the Purple in? The machine has 1200 hours on it.

Would put nothing but 13W30 in my 1995 16G Pro.

1200 hours on Dyno oil. The seals may start leaking if switched to a synthetic.


My 16's engine all at once started smoking bad two years ago. It still ran fine when I took it to the shop and parked it. When I decide to tear into it. I hope it is nothing more than a head gasket. I have not even pulled the plugs yet to see which side is burning oil.
 
In Kholer engine I have run nothing but straight 30wt conventional. Like I said, 1200 hours on it. Am I getting near the
end here without problems?
Oh - and I called Royal Purple. They said to not use their product for this application - use the 10-30 in trans, as
per the manual
